Onboard Systems Awarded Contract for AW139 HEC Secondary Hook Kits by Leonardo Helicopters

Onboard Systems today announced that it has been awarded a contract from Leonardo Helicopters to provide a backup HEC (Human External Cargo) hook system for the Leonardo Helicopters AW139. The backup hook system can be added onto the primary cargo hook system for new and existing AW139 aircraft to enable HEC operations in utility, search and rescue, personnel insertion and extraction, and other missions.

“We are very excited for the opportunity to develop another backup HEC hook system with Leonardo Helicopters,” said Karsten Lemmon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Onboard Systems. “We are hard at work with Leonardo on systems for the AW169 and AW101 aircraft, and look forward to providing HEC-certified Onboard cargo hook equipment to AW139 operations for their HEC missions.”

The AW139 backup cargo hook system will feature Onboard’s TALON LC Hydraulic Cargo Hook, which will allow for flexible rigging of the hook control cables around the primary hook system while effectively reducing inadvertent cargo releases.
