Onboard Systems Receives Certifications for Robinson R44 Raven II Pin Load Cell
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Onboard Systems, a leading provider of innovative helicopter cargo hook equipment, announced that its latest pin load cell has been STC certified by the FAA and Transport Canada. The pin load cell is part of a new Onboard Weighing System designed for the Robinson R44 Raven II aircraft. Onboard has also submitted this system to EASA for certification in Europe.
Onboard Weighing Systems provide pilots with the exact weight of the load on the cargo hook via a display monitor mounted in the cockpit, allowing them to maximize load efficiency while reducing airframe stress. Pin load cells are designed to mount on one side of the hook by replacing the main attach bolt, rather than attaching as a separate link above the hook. This allows for improved ground clearance, easier cable routing and lower weight.
“In 2008, Onboard Systems reviewed and re-engineered our cargo hook kits for the Robinson R44 and Raven II aircraft as part of our continuous product improvement process,” said Karsten Lemmon, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Onboard Systems. “The new pin load cell is the final component of the revamped Robinson Raven II kits and offers improved ground clearance and simplified installation for operators.”
Onboard Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures a complete line of innovative helicopter cargo hook equipment under its TALON™ brand, including belly hooks, cargo hook suspension systems, onboard weighing systems and remote hooks. Its low-weight, high quality products provide helicopter operators with increased cost efficiencies and safety through customer-driven designs, responsive service and support, and low on-going maintenance costs.
